Community Outreach and Education
The Sexual Abuse Centre Thunder Bay wants to stop violence and sexual assault before it happens. That's why we have provided targeted, relevant, and evidence-based community outreach and educational programming since our inception in 1975.
Prevention Through Education. We facilitate group sessions at organizations and workplaces upon request to provide general information or to address specific workplace issues.
Our agency staff also provides workshops and training to caregivers/professionals in Thunder Bay. We have provided training workshops in Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout, Terrace Bay, Marathon, Nipigon, and Kenora. This has included:
Agency staff have also developed an ongoing program for students in primary and high schools to help young people understand the issues surrounding sexual assault, abuse, and harassment, and to provide them with a clear set of guidelines about what is okay and what is not.

Please contact us at (807) 345-0894. Please provide at least three weeks' notice for presentations up to three hours and at least two months' notice for training workshops of four hours or more. There is a fee for in-service training/workshops which can be waived depending on the funding circumstances of the requesting party or with a reciprocating workshop for our staff from the agency requesting the workshop.
